Corn is a common ingredient found in baked goods. Here are a few substitutes you can make at home if you have a corn allergy or intolerance.

Cornstarch 1 cup cornstarch = 1 cup arrowroot powder
Corn Syrup Use 1:1 with honey or molasses. These substitutes will make the finished result sweeter than when corn syrup is used.
Xanthan Gum 1 teaspoon Xanthan Gum = 1/2 teaspoon Guar Gum
Corn-Free
Baking Powder
Mix the following ingredients to make your own corn-free baking powder:

1/3 baking soda
2/3 cup cream of tartar
2/3 cup arrowroot starch

Blend thoroughly and store in an airtight container.
